What is the Accreditation Scheme?
A voluntary scheme aimed at landlords who wish to provide safe, high quality housing for students. The scheme is in partnership with Winchester City Council, Winchester Housing Group, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and The University of Winchester.
What must the landlord provide to reach Accreditation standards?
| CP12 gas safety certificate |
| Electrical safety certificate |
| Copy of insurance certificate |
| All furniture and furnishings comply with the current furniture regulations |
| Windows and doors meet certain safety standards |
| Minimum one smoke alarm to each floor level |
| Fire doors and closers to specified areas |
| Internal escape routes are satisfactory |
| Satisfactory walls, ceilings and doors to contain the spread of fire |
| Adequate kitchen facilities for the number of occupants |
| Adequate bathroom and WC facilities for the number of occupants |
| Correct number of electrical sockets in each study or bedroom |
| Bedrooms, kitchen and living rooms meet minimum space requirements |
| Effective heating system |
| Adequate provision of hot water |
| Good standard or repair and decoration inside and out |
